# Inappropriate Language

***

## **Overview**

To help create a welcoming and comfortable chat experience for everyone, CIME uses a **profanity filter system**.

If a chat message contains explicit profanity or highly offensive language, certain words may be automatically masked or the message may be restricted from being sent.

## **How It Works**

Messages containing filtered language may be handled in the following way:

* **Censoring:** Specific words may be automatically replaced with `***`.

## **Chat Guidelines**

To help maintain a positive community environment, please keep the following in mind:

* Avoid using insulting or abusive language toward other users.
* Refrain from posting sexually explicit, hateful, or discriminatory content.
* Remember that chat is a public space that can be viewed by everyone.

#### **Frequently Asked Questions**

<details>

Q. Will normal conversations get caught by the filter?

We regularly fine-tune our filters to minimize false positives and avoid blocking everyday expressions.

That said, messages containing explicit profanity, insults, or abusive language may still be filtered or restricted.

<details>

Q. Why was my message filtered even though it wasn't profanity?

Our filters may occasionally flag words or phrases that resemble profanity or other restricted language.

We're continuously improving our filters to prevent normal messages from being flagged by mistake while keeping chat safe and welcoming.

<details>

Q. Are all profanity and offensive words blocked?

Not necessarily. Our filters are designed to target explicit profanity and seriously offensive language, rather than blocking every potentially inappropriate word or expression.
